Better Together
Better Together – Building networks and an alliance for stronger communities across Wales
A national event bringing together community groups, third sector organisations, public services, and cross-sector partnerships to explore practical ways to strengthen collaboration, align efforts, and improve the impact of wellbeing work across Wales.
This open event highlighted the growing challenges faced by community-facing organisations in improving citizen wellbeing, and the urgent need to strengthen the connections between policy, evidence, and action. Through discussion, participants explored how shared vision, stronger alliances, and better knowledge exchange could help overcome fragmentation and support ambitious, sustainable change.
Key themes included:
- A lack of policy follow-through and evaluation of policy frameworks in times of crisis.
- Wales’ strong tradition of community action as a foundation for more radical collaboration.
- Opportunities to deepen relationships between Higher and Further Education and communities.
- The importance of supporting networks and knowledge exchange through resources like Arsyllfa Cymru: Observatory Wales.
- The energy and optimism in the room to continue working together.
There was a clear appetite to form a broad, values-based Alliance for Communities – a space for shared learning, collaboration, and action.
